Sandra Lee Freeman Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Laboratory Management
Sandra Lee Freeman parlays her expertise in chemistry and microbiology to improve conditions for patients
EMPORIA, VA, June 14, 2010 /Cancer PR News/ -- Sandra Lee Freeman, Director of Laboratory for Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in laboratory management.
A respected expert in chemistry and microbiology, Sandra Lee Freeman considers helping the sick to be the most rewarding aspect of her work for Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. As director of laboratory, she is responsible for managing operations, troubleshooting, conducting inspections with the joint commission, supervising 20 employees, practicing general hematology, and working with blood banks. Ms. Freeman believes that improving conditions for patients is the most vital aspect of what she does and considers being told by a cancer patient that she was "God's helper" to be the proudest moment of her career. She attributes her success to the support that she receives from her parents.
Ms. Freeman completed training through the College of American Pathologists and earned a bachelor of science in biology from Averett University. She is a certified medical technologist through American Medical Technologists and a registered hematologist with the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Her professional affiliations include American Medical Technologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Association of Blood Banks. In 2007 and 2009, she was honored by Cambridge Who's Who with induction as a VIP member. She volunteers with Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church in her spare time. In five years, Ms. Freeman aspires to become involved in patient education.
