New Digital Scanning Technique Detects Breast Cancer in Women Under 50

Breast tissue in women younger than 50 tends to be denser and harder for conventional mammogram scans to detect, but a new digital infra-red technique pushes up the detection rate dramatically.

    May 18, 2010 /Cancer PR News/ -- Breast tissue in women younger than 50 tends to be denser and harder for conventional mammogram scans to detect, but a new digital infra-red technique pushes up the detection rate dramatically.

The technology originally was developed by the US military for night vision use. It uses a camera to detect heat, sensing temperature changes in the skin that shows up slightly warmer than surrounding healthy cells.
