Joanna Cuevas Ingram Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

Her experience in campaign development is squarely focused on achieving long-term, effective, sustainable social change by ensuring equity and accountability in health care, education, labor, and civil and human rights policy change.

BERKELEY, CA, March 18, 2009 /Cancer PR News/ -- Joanna Cuevas Ingram, Latina Program Coordinator for Women's Cancer Resource Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of community service.

With over 10 years of professional experience in community organizing, Mrs. Cuevas Ingram's expertise is in community organization and strategic grassroots community advocacy campaign/case development in the service of human rights and the public interest. Her experience in campaign development is squarely focused on achieving long-term, effective, sustainable social change by ensuring equity and accountability in health care, education, labor, and civil and human rights policy change.

Ms. Cuevas Ingram's most recent achievements in her work with The Women's Cancer Resource Center include strategic planning and program development, convening and conducting conferences, workshops, and special events at the local and national levels, direct service program administration, and the strategic development and coordination of the WCRC Comadres Community Health Advocacy Training and the Peer Outreach Program which serves diverse Latino communities throughout Alameda County, California. In the WCRC Comadres Community Health Advocacy Program, volunteer Spanish speaking Latina cancer survivors, friends and family members conduct community-based participatory education and outreach among low-income Latina women, offering emotional support, compassionate care and resource referrals for newly diagnosed Latina women with cancer. She attributes her success to an earned humility, a passionate awareness that enables her to listen and engage actively with all stakeholders, a practical diplomacy in embracing multiple perspectives and a driving need to build grassroots leadership among community members most directly impacted by the policy or practice issue at hand. A convening committee member of The National Latino Cancer Summit and a student member of the National Lawyers Guild, Mrs. Cuevas Ingram received her Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Visual Arts, with a concentration in Film Production, from Occidental College.

The Women's Cancer Resource Center is a non-profit organization that provides information, outreach education, community health advocacy, direct services and support to women with cancer, their friends and families. The Women's Cancer Resource Center's philosophy is based on care, compassion and change. In working to achieve those ends, the Women's Cancer Resouce Center works to meet the needs of any woman diagnosed with cancer, and remains focused on serving the needs of low-income women, women of color, immigrant, lesbian, older and disabled women.
