New Book Helps Caregivers Prevent Burnout and Fatigue

More and more people are finding themselves having to provide care for loved ones. A new book shows how caregivers can lower stress and find life balance.

/Cancer PR News/ - MINNEAPOLIS, MN, April 10, 2008 - A Minneapolis man has written a book to help a growing number of people who find themselves in the role of caregiver. Grant Watkins is the author of a new book called, "CPR for Caregivers." The book is a resource guide to help caregivers achieve life balance and reduce stress.

"I learned first-hand what it is like to become fatigued when caring for a loved one," Watkins explains. "I took care of my dad for more than five years."

Watkins says the book is a guide for caregivers who need to care for themselves while caring for a loved one. The title is an acronym that stands for, "Connect, Project and Reflect." He says it explores topics for mind, body and spirit.

Watkins began his 20 plus year career helping people after his father was declared legally blind from complications of diabetes. He was just 17 at the time. He says he learned to have powerful moments of experiencing love and living a full life in the midst of caregiver fatigue. Watkins now works for a nonprofit organization that promotes independent living and provides low-income housing for people over age 62 and for those who have chronic physical and/or mental disabilities. He is also an inspirational speaker. He will be giving speeches related to care giving around the country this spring.

The book is available online at http://www.grantwatkins.com and at Amazon.com. It is also available at Barnes and Nobles stores nationwide. Watkins adds that people who are looking for tips on care giving can sign up for the Caregiver Crusade newsletter at his website. Dates and info on where Watkins will be speaking can be found at his website as well.
